Sgt. Deanna Halley is not a stranger to Copper Mill Elementary students because she’s a parent-volunteer at the school and the mother of a student.

Most haven’t seen her in uniform and got to know a more serious side of Halley when she addressed the Veterans Day Honors Program on Nov. 12. Halley talked about commitment and discipline and her role in the U.S. Army. The Zachary High JROTC color guard, the VFW and the Zachary Regional Veterans Park Association were among other participants.
