The Rev. Dale W. Flowers and Redwood Baptist Church, 6480 MacHost Road, Zachary, will host a Black History Month taste festival at 2 p.m. Saturday. A Black History program will begin at 8 a.m. Sunday, and everyone is invited to attend.

Lunch and Learn

The Zachary Chamber of Commerce will host its next Lunch and Learn event from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 2 at the Americana YMCA, 4200 Liberty Way.

Joe Rush, owner of MIS Technology Group, will be the guest speaker and give a presentation on how to take advantage of Small Business Innovation Research. Rush will be offering practical ways to train your company’s employees.

Business After Hours

The Zachary Chamber will host its first Business After Hours networking event from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. March 3 in the bar area of Lagniappe Restaurant, 5755 Main St., Zachary.

The event will be a “come and go”-style event and is the first of 2016 hosted by the Chamber.

Drink specials and free appetizers will be available.

Leadership Alumni meeting

The Leadership North Alumni Association will meet at 6 p.m. March 10 in the Zachary Branch Library’s meeting room, 1900 Church St.

Adam Knapp, of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber, will speak on BRAC’s “Think Bigger” campaign for 2016.

The campaign specifies four goals: to grow and diversify the Baton Rouge metropolitan economy; cultivate talent; transform quality of life; and elevate the region’s external image.

The meeting is open to the community and alumni of the Leadership North program are encouraged to attend.

Hope for new mothers

New Moms Hope, a monthly support group for new mothers suffering from postpartum depression, will meet from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. March 10 in the West Wing Conference Room at Lane Regional Medical Center, 1900 Main St., Zachary.

The group is free and meets the second Thursday of every month.

Run With Rotary 5K planned

The Rotary Club of Zachary is hosting its inaugural Run with Rotary 5K race March 19 inside the Americana development, and all ages of competitive runners, casual joggers, walkers or strollers are invited to participate.

Race-day registration begins at 7:15 a.m. with a race time of 8 a.m. Additional activities will be held at the Americana YMCA, and post-race beverages, snacks and pastalaya will be served.

Winners in several categories will be recognized.

All proceeds will fund Zachary Rotary Club service projects in the Zachary community.
