The Zachary High School Bronco Robotics team competed against 60 teams from around the world March 23-25 at the FIRST Robotics Competition Bayou Regional at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner.

Although the team did not make it into the championship round, they were chosen as a back-up robot to be called in should a championship competitor break down.

The team earned the honor of being named Top Seeded Rookie Team.

Mentors who assisted the team in advance of the competition include Krista Scafidel, of LSU’s Society of Peer Mentors; Ryan Reed, of NASA; and Melinda Michiels, Exxon retiree.
