Zachary Rotary Club President Mindy Head said members are busy planning for the club’s inaugural Run With Rotary 5K race set for March 19.

The race will start at the Americana YMCA and follow a 3.1-mile route through the Americana development located off Mount Pleasant Road.

The race is open to anyone of any age — competitive runners, casual joggers, walkers and strollers.

Rotarians and volunteers will be featured along the route to cheer for and guide participants.

Water, parking and restrooms will be available, as well as pastalaya and other refreshments before and after the event.

Overall first-, second- and third-place winners will be awarded, and all participants who register will receive a T-shirt. Cost to enter is $20 if registering prior to the race and $25 at the event.

Registration starts at 7:15 a.m. followed by the race at 8 a.m.

There will be no refunds offered, as this event is a fundraiser for a nonprofit. All proceeds will go to the Zachary Rotary Club to help fund service projects in the community.

Sponsorship levels range from $500 to $100 and include participant registration fees, logo on back of T-shirt and signs placed along race path.

The Rotary Club of Zachary helps support the Zachary Food Pantry, Council on Aging and Zachary Schools, awards scholarships to Zachary High School seniors, repairs homes for the elderly and volunteers for many charitable events.

Register, pay online or learn more at or by visiting Zachary Rotary on Facebook.

Registration forms and liability waivers may be downloaded, filled out and mailed, along with a check payable to Rotary Club of Zachary, to P.O. Box 181, Zachary, LA 70791.
