To commemorate Voter Registration Week May 9 through 13, Registrar of Voters Steve Raborn is reminding residents of East Baton Rouge Parish to make sure they are registered to vote before the fall elections.

Registrar of Voters offices statewide will be conducting a voter registration drive during Voter Registration Week, encouraging residents who need to register or update their registration in order to vote to do so online at , in person at the nearest Registrar of Voters offices or during the voter drive conducted at the following branches of the East Baton Rouge Parish Library from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.: Zachary Branch, 1900 Church St., May 10; Central Branch, 11260 Joor Road, May 10; Pride-Chaneyville Branch, 13600 Pride-Port Hudson Road, May 12; and the Baker Branch, 3501 Groom Road, May 13.

Applicants registering to vote in person should bring valid identification that establishes identity, age and residency, such as a current Louisiana driver’s license, birth certificate or other documentation which easily establishes identity, age and residency.

If no photo identification is available, residents may bring a utility bill, payroll check or government document that includes name and address. Applicants who are naturalized citizens must also bring their naturalization certificate or a current U.S. passport to show proof of citizenship.

To cast a ballot in the Nov. 8 presidential election, residents must be registered to vote by Oct. 11. Early voting will be held Oct. 25 through Nov. 1.
