A head-on crash in Livingston Parish Saturday afternoon left a Bogalusa man dead and two other people injured, according to State Police.
The crash happened on La. 16 north of La. 22 shortly after 4 p.m., State Police spokesman Bryan Lee said.
Maurice Cooper, 24, was driving southbound on La. 16 in a 2001 Nissan Maxima when his vehicle crossed the center lane into the northbound lane, the State Police news release says. His car collided head-on with a 2002 Chevrolet pickup being driven by Jeremy Hebert, 31, of Denham Springs.
Cooper was not buckled in and suffered fatal injuries during the crash, the release says. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Lee said. Hebert and a passenger in his vehicle were injured, Lee said.
Investigators have not determined whether impairment was a factor in the crash, the release says, though a toxicology sample will be taken from both drivers and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
The crash remains under investigation.
