A man accused of firing several shots from his vehicle while driving through north Baton Rouge and then hiding the gun was arrested Friday, Baton Rouge police said.
Curtis Howard, 20, is accused of driving in the 1000 block of Columbus Dunn Drive and firing a handgun out the passenger side window around 12:15 p.m. Friday, according to a police report. He then ran from the scene of the shooting.
When officers found him several blocks away, Howard “gave several conflicting statements about the incident,” a detective wrote in the report. Howard had also removed his gun from his vehicle and hid it, and refused to tell police where it was, the report says.
Howard, 9588 Great Smokey Drive, Baton Rouge, was booked into Parish Prison on counts of illegal use of a weapon and obstruction of justice. He was released Saturday on $7,500 bail, online jail records show.
