A 34-year-old Gonzales man was arrested Thursday after officers found more than 150 images of pornography involving children during a search of the Baton Rouge home where he was staying at the time, according to a report from the state Attorney General's Office.
Joey Michael Opperman, whose permanent address is listed as 41233 Shadow Creek, Gonzales, was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Friday on 150 counts of pornography involving juveniles under 13, according to the arrest report.
Opperman told officers that he was the only person using the electronic devices to download and view the pictures and videos in his bedroom and that he had been doing it for "an extended period of time," according to the report.
Officers said Opperman also told them that he would delete most of the images and videos after he watched them. Investigators were able to find the file names of additional images on the devices, but they were not able to view them because they had been deleted.
