An early morning fight outside a Greenwell Springs Road nightclub led to the shooting death of a 28-year-old man, Baton Rouge police spokesman Sgt. Don Stone said.

A woman was shot and injured in the incident and another man’s cell phone was shot off his hip, Stone said.

Police responded to Club Tri-Ambient, 6105 Greenwell Springs Road, just before 2 a.m. Thursday to investigate the shooting, Stone said.

Police found Arthur Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound, Stone said. Johnson was taken to a hospital where he later died.

The woman and other man left the club to go to the hospital before police arrived, Stone said. The woman’s injuries are non life-threatening, Stone said, and the man was not injured.

Shots were fired during a fight outside the club, Stone said. The fight began inside the club and involved Johnson and the shooter, who has not been identified.
