A West Feliciana area lawyer and former assistant prosecutor in multiple judicial districts turned himself in to authorities Wednesday after he was accused of molesting a juvenile in 2003, said West Feliciana Sheriff spokeswoman Erin Foster.
David Opperman, a 55-year-old attorney, was accused of molesting a 13-year-old girl on Oct. 25, 2003, according to Foster.
Foster said a complaint was filed Nov. 20 about the incident, and after investigating, deputies issued a warrant for Opperman's arrest Tuesday. Foster would not release any further details about the incident.

Opperman has worked at various law firms since 1994 and served as an assistant district attorney for the 1st Judicial District in Caddo Parish, 19th Judicial District in East Baton Rouge Parish and 7th Judicial District in Catahoula and Concordia parishes.
He ran unsuccessfully for 20th Judicial District Attorney in East and West Feliciana parishes against incumbent Sam D'Aquilla in 2014. Opperman currently works for Capital City Probation in Baton Rouge, which provides private pre-trial and post-conviction supervision services.
He posted bail Wednesday evening, which had been set at $50,000. Opperman declined to comment shortly after he was released jail.
Opperman, 8757 Plettenberg Road, St. Francisville, was booked into West Feliciana Parish jail on a count of molestation of a juvenile.
