Two people have been arrested in an attempted armed robbery early Saturday morning at the Belle of Baton Rouge Hotel and Casino, Baton Rouge police spokesman Sgt. Don Coppola Jr. said

Darius Washington, 20, and Jyron Robinson, 19, tried to rob a woman at the hotel and casino around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Coppola said.

The victim was sitting in her locked vehicle in the parking garage of the casino when the pair tried to rob her, according to a police report of the incident. After Washington pulled a gun, the report says, the woman flashed her lights and honked her horn to get the attention of a passing driver.

The men ran away, but Washington fired one shot, hitting a tire on the woman's vehicle, according to their arrest report. The casino management shared surveillance of the incident with police, who were able to track the men to a specific hotel room.

While officers gathered information in the lobby, they saw the two men walk into the lobby and took them into custody.

Washington, of 15026 Shenandoah, was booked in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on attempted armed robbery with a firearm, illegal use of a weapon, illegal carrying of a weapon and illegal possession of a stolen firearm.

Robinson, of 4910 Pine Hill Drive, was booked in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on attempted armed robbery and possession of marijuana.
