A fire at a vacant Baton Rouge house early Wednesday morning has been ruled as arson, officials said.

At 12:38 a.m., Baton Rouge firefighters responded to a one-alarm house fire in the 2200 block of Tennessee Street, the Baton Rouge Fire Department said in a news release. Firefighters found smoke coming from the house, and once inside, they found that the fire was in the attic.

Firefighters contained the fire to the attic, but the rest of the home received heavy smoke damage, BRFD said.

The home was vacant, and no one was injured. The fire was under control at 1:11 a.m.

The cause of the fire has been ruled as arson, BRFD said. Anyone with information on the fire is asked to contact BRFD arson investigators at 225-354-1419 or Crime Stoppers.
