An Opelousas man was killed Sunday morning when he drove his car off La. 35 and crashed into a storage building in St. Landry Parish, State Police said.
Reginald Jenkins, 32, was driving north on La. 35 toward Live Oak Road when the road curved left and he continued off the road’s right side, said Brooks David, a State Police spokesman. Jenkins’ Kia sedan went through a wooden fence, crashed into a storage building, and continued north until it halted in a shallow canal, upside down, David said.
Jenkins was pronounced dead at the scene. It’s unclear whether alcohol played a role in the crash, but toxicology samples were submitted, David said.
