A man who allegedly tried to rob a Baton Rouge grocery store Sunday morning died after he was shot by a store employee, Baton Rouge police say.
Rico Clayton Jr., 31, entered the Neighbors Food Mart on Dougherty Drive around 7:50 a.m. Sunday, police say. Clayton, who had a gun, demanded money from the store employees.
One of the employees grabbed a gun and shot at Clayton, striking him. Clayton was transported to a hospital where he later died.
A man believed to have held up a Baton Rouge store at gunpoint Sunday morning is now in critical condition after an employee shot him, police say.
Police continue to investigate.
