An inmate being transported through East Baton Rouge in a LaSalle Corrections vehicle escaped when the van stopped to get gas at the corner of Scenic Highway and Blount Road; the inmate stripped off his clothes and was later re-arrested after breaking into someone's home, a Baton Rouge Police spokesperson said.

"He decided to make a run for it," Sgt. L'Jean McKneely Jr., police spokesperson said.

McKneely said he didn't know if the inmate, Quinton Hall, had on handcuffs when he escaped the van.

"We got information he was in somebody's home and went and got him," McKneely said.

The homeowner wasn't at home at the time.

Hall was found trying to set a mattress at the home on fire and was "smoking the owner's cigarettes," McKneely said.

Hall had also previously broken into another Baton Rouge home after his escape.

Hall was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on counts of of simple burglary and a charge of simple arson. He was previously a fugitive from Mississippi wanted for armed robbery.
