Three people were injured in a shooting late Saturday afternoon in Old South Baton Rouge, authorities said.

Baton Rouge police spokesman Sgt. Don Coppola Jr. said investigators believe the three were shot while driving in the 1200 block of East Washington Street, near the Interstate 10 overpass.

They called 911 around 4:30 p.m. from the 100 block of Taylor Street, which is about a mile from where the shooting occurred and less than a block from Highland Road.

One victim was driven to the hospital in a private vehicle and the other two were transported via ambulance from Taylor Street, East Baton Rouge Emergency Medical Services spokesman Mike Chustz said.

Baton Rouge police said all three are expected to survive their injuries.

Police focused their investigation on an SUV that appeared to have its rear window shot out and was parked in the 100 block of Taylor Street. The vehicle, a silver Tahoe with Arizona plates, was towed from the scene.

Investigators also placed evidence markers and took photos under the interstate overpass on East Washington Street. Shattered glass was visible in the area, which appeared to have come from the damaged vehicle.
