Louisiana State Police vehicles parked at headquarters, Wednesday, November 14, 2018 in Baton Rouge, La.

A 19-year-old Gonzales man was killed in a dirt bike crash in Ascension Parish, State Police said.

The crash took place shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday on La. 22, west of La. 44, according to Trooper William Huggins.

Everett Scott was driving eastbound on La. 22 on a Honda CFR 250 dirt bike with no headlights while a Honda Accord was traveling in the opposite direction, Huggins said.

The Accord started to make a left turn onto Hemingway Drive when Scott’s dirt bike hit the car and veered off the roadway before coming to a stop.

Scott was taken to the hospital, and although he wore a helmet, he died from his injuries, Huggins said.

The driver of the Accord was properly restrained and came away uninjured.

Toxicology samples were taken from both drivers for analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.
