An officer at Elayn Hunt Correctional Center was arrested on a count of sexual battery and fired Friday after another officer reported that the woman was having sex with an inmate, according to the state Department of Corrections.
An officer said that 28-year-old Sirrena Martin, a probational corrections officer, was having sex with an inmate and bought the inmate a cellphone, Ken Pastorick, a Department of Corrections spokesman, said in the press release. Martin allegedly admitted to the allegations, according to Pastorick.
Martin, of Baton Rouge, was arrested by St. Gabriel police on sexual battery, malfeasance in officer and introduction of contraband into a penal institution. Pastorick said Martin met or exceeded all department requirements when she started working at the prison on July 31, 2017.
