East Baton Rouge sheriff’s deputies on Friday arrested a man wanted in an April armed robbery and attempted murder who also had been accused of molesting a teenage girl in 2014.

Danny Givens, 48, is accused of pointing a gun at and demanding music from a victim on April 28 at Givens’ North Lobdell Boulevard residence, according to a Baton Rouge Police Department report. As the victim got in his vehicle and tried to drive away, Givens fired a shot into the driver’s side of the vehicle, the report says.

“The projectile went through the door frame and landed in the passenger’s lap,” the report says.

The victim and the passenger in his car both identified Givens as the shooter, the report says.

Givens was convicted of posession of Schedule II drugs in 2007 and should not have had a firearm, the report says.

The Sheriff’s Office had been looking for Givens since January, when deputies interviewed a teenage girl who reported that Givens had molested her in September 2014, according to an arrest warrant.

The girl told deputies Givens forced her to give him a bath, then in the following week, he “brought her over to his residence” twice, the warrant says. The girl said she and Givens had consensual sex both times, and Givens offered her money.

Givens, 2022 North Lobdell Blvd., Baton Rouge, was booked Friday into Parish Prison on counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile, molestation of a juvenile and fugitive from justice. He was assigned $15,000 bail, according to online booking records.
