A Baton Rouge man was found dead inside his apartment after a shooting Monday afternoon off North Sherwood Forest Drive.

East Baton Rouge Emergency Medical Services spokesman Mike Chustz said crews responded to the 2100 block of North Sherwood Forest Boulevard around 2:15 p.m.

One person was found dead on the scene. Baton Rouge police spokesman Sgt. Don Coppola Jr. said the victim is a male. 

The victim was shot inside his apartment, which is in a complex just off Sherwood Forest Drive. Neighbors reported hearing three or four shots just after 2 p.m. 

Family members of the victim said on the scene that he was in his 40s and had recently moved into the apartment where he was shot.
