Baton Rouge Police are investigating after recovering a vehicle that was spotted in the Mississippi River on Tuesday.

It is not clear now long the vehicle has been in the river off River Road and near Oklahoma Street, or whether it was occupied, said BRPD spokesman Sgt. Don Coppola Jr. He said it appeared someone walking on the levee when they saw the vehicle.

The BRPD dive team was on scene Tuesday afternoon.

A video shared by WBRZ showed what appeared to be a white Cadillac Escalade being pulled to the shore from where it sat fully submerged beneath the river's surface.

The vehicle didn't show any clear signs of damage on the portions of the vehicle shown in the video as water streamed from the back.

No further information was immediately available.
