Three people have been arrested in a Feb. 9 shooting that left one man injured inside his home, shot in the buttocks while he was lying in bed holding an infant.

The most recent arrest occurred Saturday when Myrell Howard, 30, was booked into Parish Prison and accused of driving the alleged shooter to and from the scene of the crime and later helping him hide the handgun involved, according to the arrest warrant filed by the Baton Rouge Police Department.

Howard, of 5435 Halsey St., Baton Rouge, was booked on a count of accessory after the fact to attempted second-degree murder.

The shooting took place in the 5600 block of Sumrall Drive on Feb. 9.

The man accused of pulling the trigger, Joshua Ware, 25, was arrested shortly after the incident when officers found him driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen, according to his arrest report from that incident. They also found heroin and crack cocaine inside the vehicle.

A female passenger was also arrested, identified as Ware's co-defendant in the report. Her name was not immediately available.

Officers wrote in a subsequent warrant for Ware's arrest on murder counts that they listened to several jail calls in which she described the events of Feb. 9, saying she and Ware called someone that night "to take care of the victim."

Ware's co-defendant told police he was given a handgun and driven to the victim's home in the stolen vehicle. She said Ware admitted he had shot the victim shortly after returning to the vehicle. Ware later hid the handgun he used, the woman told police.

Ware, of 5415 Hasley St., Baton Rouge, was booked on attempted second-degree murder and illegal use of weapons. He had previously been booked on unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and drug counts.
