A Baton Rouge man arrested Tuesday is accused of sexual battery of a 14-year-old girl he met on a social networking application called Kik.

After talking with James Hames, 39, over the course of a year using Kik, the girl arranged for him to pick her up at 2 a.m. July 9, the Baton Rouge Police report says. Hames met her in Hammond and drove her to his Baton Rouge apartment, at 11111 N. Harrell’s Ferry, the report says. He later drove her back to Hammond.

The victim’s mother asked her where she had gone, at which point the girl said she had sex with Hames, the report says.

The girl was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center for a sexual assault examination. Police later presented the victim with a six-person photographic lineup, and she identified Hames, the report says. Later, police brought the victim and her mother back to the Sherwood Forest Boulevard area for the girl to identify the apartment.

Police obtained a search warrant for Hames’ DNA, and he was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a count of indecent behavior with a juvenile and sexual battery.
