Police caught a man accused of robbing a Chase Bank in Baton Rouge on Jan. 12 after he tried to rob a Lake Charles casino.

Louisiana State Police first arrested Gregory Chisolm, 51, on Sunday after he tried to rob the casino, a Baton Rouge Police news release says, and he will be brought back to Baton Rouge and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Police believe Chisolm handed a note demanding money to a teller at the Government Street bank branch before making off with an undisclosed amount of money.

He dropped what police termed a suspicious item, which appeared to be an older model cell phone, as he ran from the bank. Explosives specialists from the Baton Rouge Police Department destroyed the item.

Police requested three nearby schools to lock down their campuses for a few hours after the robbery.

Chisolm, of 843 Camp St., New Orleans, will be booked on first-degree robbery, the news release says.
