UPDATE: Teen was playing with firearm when it went off, killing man on Kansas Street in Baton Rouge
An 18-year-old has been arrested in connection to a Kansas Street shooting that left a man dead earlier this year, Baton Rouge police said in a news release Thursday morning.
Gabriel Bazile, 18, was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a count of negligent homicide for the death of James Caples, 21.
According to police, Caples was found shot in the 1900 block of Kansas Street around 4:30 p.m. June 4, 2024. Caples was taken to a hospital where he later died.
