A White Castle man who admitted to stabbing his ex-girlfriend in a Valentine's Day domestic dispute in Ascension Parish agreed to a year in jail and to abide by a lifetime protective order.
Kenyon Ray Foster, 42, admitted to threatening the life of his ex-girlfriend with a knife on Feb. 14, 2022, and stabbing her multiple times as their child watched, according to a plea agreement.
Foster, of the 54000 block of Gleason Street, had been scheduled for a jury trial in Gonzales starting on Tuesday, but he pleaded guilty on Monday to two felony counts, aggravated second-degree battery and domestic abuse aggravated assault.

Judge Jason Verdigets of the 23rd Judicial District Court gave Foster 16 years in state prison combined for the two counts but suspended all but one year, court minutes say.
In addition to the lifetime protective order and a requirement to enroll in a domestic violence program, Foster also received five years of probation after his release.
