Former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, who frequently appears on lists of possible 2020 presidential candidates, will be the featured guest at the Louisiana Democratic Party's True Blue Gala next month.

“Gov. McAuliffe has been a great friend and took bold steps to move the State of Virginia forward,” Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards said of McAuliffe, whose gubernatorial term ended in January. “He led Virginia to a thriving, competitive economy that afforded folks a better quality of life."

The True Blue Gala is the Democrat's largest annual fundraiser. Past events have drawn several high-profile Democrats from the national stage.

McAuliffe, 61, has often been touted among the Democrats' prospects for 2020. An article in the Richmond Times-Dispatch over the weekend highlighted how "McAuliffe is doing what national prospects are supposed to do: traveling to key states, plumping for his party’s candidates, tweeting, talking — and listening."

The True Blue Gala will take place on May 18 in Baton Rouge. Tickets, which run from $175 apiece up to $5,000 for a VIP table of 10, can be purchased at www.LouisianaDemocrats.org.
