Metro Councilwoman Ronnie Edwards and Brusly attorney Edmond Jordan will face off in a Nov. 21 runoff for the District 29 House seat.

Edwards, a Democrat, placed first in Saturday’s election with 36 percent of the vote, while Jordan placed second with 29 percent of the ballots cast in the four-way race.

Vereta Lee, an East Baton Rouge Parish School Board member, placed third with 25 percent of the vote. Motivational speaker Daniel Banguel trailed with 10 percent. All four candidates for the seat are Democrats.

The district is centered in north Baton Rouge but also includes Port Allen and Brusly on the west side of the Mississippi River. The seat is currently held by state Rep. Regina Barrow, a Baton Rouge Democrat who is finishing her third term in office and is term-limited.
