LATEST: Weather Service warns freezing rain could sweep into Baton Rouge

Forecasting winter weather is tricky, especially in the South. But one thing is certain -- it's about to get COLD and wet in south Louisiana.

According to the National Weather Service, a strong cold front will move through the Lafayette, Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas late Thursday night and into early Friday morning.

Temperatures are expected to plunge throughout Friday into the low 30s and high 20s. So what about wintry precipitation -- snow, sleet, freezing rain, etc.? Let's allow WBRZ-TV meteorologist Josh Eachus to explain things.
