If you think that Donald Trump’s hateful speech about Mexicans on Tuesday was harmless, think again. As a Mexican-American living in the U.S. for most of my life, I’m normally thick-skinned about racist comments. Thus I dismissed Trump’s hate-mongering about Mexican immigrant rapists.

Then I learned that the killer in South Carolina echoed Trumps’ phrase about rapists while mowing down nine folks at a prayer service on Wednesday.

I realize that most Americans don’t share Trump’s racist views, but rabble-rousing words can trigger a killing frenzy in a fringe minority.
