In a recent Advocate, columnist Froma Harrop sets out to be reasonable, then goes overboard in suggesting we not condemn Trump voters. These are the very people for whom "individual responsibility" is almost a commandment.
But now they should not be held accountable? They didn't know any better? They put this man in power. This man who is acting against almost every conservative principle — from states' rights to fiscal responsibility — who threatens the very planet, be it from a nuclear Armageddon to slow suffocation from global warming, who insults war heroes and veterans and divides this "One Nation under God" into barbarous tribes. This man who lies at almost every turn on of his Twitter account.
But God forbid we should blame the people who voted for him. Rather we should blame our democratic institutions? We should blame Russia? We should blame "the media?" I can't wait to hear the gnashing of teeth as these blameless voters reap what they have sown.
