Advocate columnist Dan Fagan should be commended for his public criticism in The Advocate of our senator, John Kennedy, for his unnecessary comment about Lindsey Lohan and her addiction history. What good is achieved by joking about public figures that struggle with addiction?

However, Fagan stopped short of suggesting that an apology is warranted. I believe that Kennedy should apologize to Lohan and all recovering addicts for "just trying to be funny." Instead, Fagan proceeded to praise Kennedy for his politics and attack Democrats, the media and those who criticize the president ... none of which had anything to do with the issue he started writing about.
