It will be a homecoming of sorts for Darin Moore, who has resigned as football coach at False River Academy. Moore, a former Ponchatoula lineman, has been hired as the offensive line coach/running game coordinator at Pineville .
“I get to go back and coach with my former coach,” Moore said. “My wife is also from the Pineville area. She went to school at Buckeye, and we’re excited to be moving back there.”
The 26-year-old Moore spent three seasons in the Baton Rouge area and was one of the state’s youngest head coaches. He was an assistant at Christian Life Academy for one year before spending two seasons as head coach New Roads-based FRA.
Moore compiled a record of 9-12 at False River, including a 4-6 mark last fall. Pineville coach Dennis Dunn coached Moore when he played at Louisiana College. Dunn, the former Evangel Christian coach, just completed his first season at Pineville.
“Coach Dunn contacted me after the season about this job, and I’m anxious to see where this takes me,” Moore said. “The chance to move up to a larger classification school is something I've wanted. I feel like I left the (False River) program better off than it was before I got there. I’m pleased with that.”
