It was a year of important firsts for Cavana, who helped the Bears win their fourth straight Division I state title. The junior won the 200-yard freestyle in 1 minute, 41.66 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 46.88 seconds. Both times were the fastest swum in any of the LHSAA’s four championship divisions.

Another year brought even more success to Logsdon’s Bears. Catholic won its fourth consecutive Division I state title, its fifth in six years and also claimed an incredible 27th Capitol City Swim League title in a row.

Fast times were part of the story for Liles, who swam an All-American consideration record time of 4 minutes, 53.27 seconds in the 500-yard freestyle at the Capital City Swim League Championships. She broke a 20-year-old record by winning the 200 individual medley in 2:02.96 and was the Outstanding Swimmer in Division III.

Gilbert’s Redstickers continued LHSAA’s longest current swimming success story by winning their sixth Division I state title. SJA also won its 16th consecutive Capital City Swim League title with a team that relied on depth and quality.
