PINEVILLE — Dennis Dunn, who rose to prominence by building Shreveport's Evangel Christian Academy into a football powerhouse, is the new head football coach and athletic director at Pineville High School, Principal Dr. Karl Carpenter announced Tuesday in a news release.

The Alexandria Town Talk posted a story Monday night stating Dunn was expected to be the new PHS coach. Dunn spent the past 11 years as the head football coach at Pineville's Louisiana College, compiling a 65-45 record.

“We are very excited to have Dennis Dunn join us as our head football coach and athletic director at Pineville High School,” Carpenter said. “Coach Dunn’s résumé and accolades stand on their own. He has won everywhere he has coached. Beyond the football field, however, coach Dunn is a proven educator and builder of young men.”

Dunn brings with him more than 25 years of head coaching experience at the high school and collegiate levels. Dunn had a 200-41 record in 18 years as a  high school coach two Shreveport schools, Evangel and Woodlawn and is one of the 10 winningest active prep coaches in Louisiana. He won nine state titles at Evangel.

“I am excited to spend this next season of my life at Pineville High School,” Dunn said.

Dunn had seven consecutive winning seasons at Louisiana College and led the Wildcats to their first appearance in the NCAA Division III postseason and their first top 25 national finish.
