Parkview Baptist shortstop Annemarie Peavy refuses to define herself by numbers. That fact helped her lead Parkview Baptist to a second straight Division II select softball title and claim an impressive postseason honor.

“I didn’t hit as many home runs and some of my other stats were not as good as they were my junior year,” Peavy said, "but I got so much better mentally. I learned the approach to be a dominant hitter and it helped me come through for my team needed when we needed that.”

Peavy was selected as the Most Valuable Player on the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Class 4A All-State softball selected by a panel of sportswriters. Pitcher Peyton Lejeune of Division II champion Teurlings Catholic was voted the baseball MVP.

Lejeune compiled an 11-3 record with a 2.10 ERA. Peavy batted .521 with 19 doubles, 10 home runs and 62 RBIs.

The LSWA’s baseball Coach of the Year is Benton's J.D. Stephens, who led the ninth-seeded Tigers on a surprise run to the Class 4A state championship. DeRidder’s Todd Schulz was picked as the softball Coach of the Year after leading his team to the first state title in school history.

Infielder Kanin Dodge (.342) and utility player Hayden Judice (10-0, .412 batting average) are the other TCHS players on the team.

Outfielder Connor Joffrion of Parkview Baptist (.361, five home runs, 32 RBIs, 41 runs) was the local representative on the baseball squad. Peavy is joined on the softball team by two teammates, pitcher Anna Bordelon (13-1) and outfielder Audrey Greely (.579, 3 HR, 33 RBIs).
