University High (13-0) made its case as the best overall team in the state of Louisiana with a dominating 45-19 win over De La Salle in the Allstate Sugar Bowl LHSAA Division II state championship Friday night at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Cubs running back Mike Hollins, who was named the Most Outstanding Player, led the way with 129 yards on 20 carries, finding the end zone three times.

The University High defense held Cavaliers all-everything quarterback Julien Gums to only 85 yards passing and 67 yards on the ground rushing.

The win for the Cubs was their fourth state overall football state championship.
