LSU third baseman Amanda Doyle (22) runs to second base in a game against Purdue, Saturday, March 3, 2018, at LSU's Tiger Park in Baton Rouge, La.

The LSU softball team heads into SEC play with a three-game home stand against Auburn beginning at 6 p.m. Friday at Tiger Park. These are three things to look for around the conference:

1) Dethroning Florida

If the SEC’s reign over college softball has been dominant, the Gators are on a different level. All roads go through Gainesville once again as Florida goes for its fourth consecutive regular season title this year.

2) Targeted Rebels

Ole Miss was the surprise story of last season’s conference tournament, upsetting Florida, Alabama and LSU on its way to the program’s first ever SEC title. But there will be no surprises this time around.

3) Unstoppable force vs immovable object

The SEC has built its dominance on the nation’s best pitching staffs. Just about every program has at least two arms they can put out on any given night and its resulted in seven teams in the top 20 of national ERA. But SEC bats are just as potent as ever with seven teams hitting .325 or better through non-conference play.
