SCOUTING REPORT, Auburn: Mize is the best pitcher LSU will face this season. The presumed No. 1 pick in June’s draft has compiled an unreal 124:8 strikeout to walk ratio. He has three pitches he can not only throw for strikes but can command in the zone — and all of them are elite pitches.

SCOUTING REPORT, LSU: Hilliard has an 8.66 ERA and has allowed almost two walks and hits per inning in his last four starts. Those numbers are largely because of two poor starts in which he struggled to locate. Either he could not find the strike zone (like his start against Alabama with five walks in three innings) or caught too much of it (as he did against South Carolina, with eight hits in 2 2/3 innings).
