The question of who might fill in for injured starting tackles Austin Deculus and Cam Wire wasn't answered during the portion of LSU football practice open to media Wednesday afternoon.
One day after coach Ed Orgeron said Deculus and Wire won't be available for Saturday night's home opener with McNeese State, at least five players took reps at left and right tackle — and also at right guard.
The only constants in individual drills held during the open viewing window were left guard Ed Ingram and center Liam Shanahan.
Sophomore Marlon Martinez and redshirt freshman Xavier Hill were working at left tackle in place of Wire, who was hurt in a loss to UCLA on Saturday night.
Meanwhile, Charles Turner, who took snaps at both tackle spots after Deculus and Wire went down during the game, worked at right tackle along with Martinez.
True freshman Garrett Dellinger and Martinez also took snaps at right guard because Chasen Hines wasn't seen at Wednesday's session. Dellinger, however, wore a yellow noncontact jersey.
Hill also took a few snaps at left guard.
Running back John Emery, who reportedly missed the season opener because of academic problems, was on the practice field.
Orgeron said Tuesday that Emery's status for this week's game won't be known until Friday. The coach said wide receiver Jontre Kirklin, who also missed the opener because of academics, won't play Saturday.
Like Emery, Kirklin practiced fully Wednesday.
