Steve Ensminger is LSU's new offensive coordinator.

Tight ends coach Steve Ensminger has been given a contract extension and a raise, according to documents released by the LSU Board of Supervisors.

Ensminger, the longtime college football assistant and former LSU quarterback, received an extension through the 2018 season and a $25,000 raise to a $325,000 salary. His contract had ended in March. The 59-year-old was operating on a rollover year.

His new deal ends March 31, 2019. The extension and raise will have to be approved by the Board at its meeting next Friday.

Ensminger is one of the more respected members of the coaching staff. He served as the interim offensive coordinator last year when the program fired coach Les Miles and offensive coordinator Cam Cameron. The school paid him $75,000, in addition to his normal salary, for his work in that role.

"Very valuable. I wouldn’t have this job if Steve Ensminger didn’t do the job he did as offensive coordinator last year," Orgeron said. "He was perfect, did a wonderful job. Accepted the tight ends coach. Tight ends play well. Has three or four commitments in Shreveport. Very humble. Great Tiger."

All but two of LSU’s assistant coaches now have contracts that run through the 2018 season. Offensive line coach Jeff Grimes’ deal ends in March of 2018, and defensive line coach Pete Jenkins is paid monthly as a transient employee.

Torina gets 41% raise

LSU softball coach Beth Torina is set to receiver a 41 percent raise and a four-year extension through the 2022 season, according to documents.

Torina's $100,000 boost pushes her salary to $345,000 a year and comes a month after a previous contract raise was apparently nixed. In last month's LSU Board of Supervisors documents, Torina was expected to only receive a 4 percent raise and two-year extension.

Torina led the Tigers this past season to a third straight trip to the Women’s College World Series. She is 272-119 in six years in Baton Rouge for a 69.5 winning percentage.
