LSU interim head coach Ed Orgeron watches a play unfold against Missouri in the second half, Saturday, October 1, 2016 at LSU's Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. LSU won 42-7.

Many running back AJ Carter spent nine days as an LSU commitment.

Carter pulled his pledge to the Tigers on Wednesday afternoon and re-committed to UCLA, posting the announcement in a message on Twitter.

"I feel like I made the decision based off my families' and friends' desires," he wrote in his de-commitment from the Tigers. "Since I made the decision, it became crystal clear I made the decision for the wrong reasons."

Carter committed to the Tigers last Monday after dropping a previous pledge to UCLA. He was the third running back commitment in the class, joining Florida tailback Chris Curry and Alabama athlete Tae Provens, and the 22nd overall prospect.

Carter initially committed to UCLA on April 22. He holds 18 offers, including Arizona State, Arkansas, Mississippi State and Texas Tech.

Carter is as a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports, and is the top-ranked running back in Louisiana (No. 31 running back nationally). As a junior, Carter rushed for 2,289 yards and totaled 41 touchdowns for a team that reached the Class 2A state semifinals.

The Tigers are set to lose two running backs at the conclusion of the 2017 season: draft-eligible junior Derrius Guice and senior Darrel Williams. LSU coach Ed Orgeron has previously said he wanted to sign at least two tailbacks in this cycle.
