Mississippi State senior outfielder Jake Mangum on Saturday broke the Southeastern Conference record for hits in a career held by former LSU first baseman Eddy Furniss.

With a single in the second inning, Mangum reached 353 career hits, passing Furniss' 352.

Furniss held the record since his career ended in 1998.
