The LSU men’s basketball team put 23 students through a near two-hour session of drills and five-on-five play Monday in hopes of finding a possible addition to their basketball team for the 2011-12 season.

No decision was made Monday. If the coaching staff decides to add a player, that decision should come within the next several days.

One of LSU’s most recent walk-ons, Daron Populist, who played the past two years, has received a scholarship to play this season at Southeastern Louisiana.

Johnson said a walk-on from last season, Andrew Del Piero, continues to work with LSU in individual drills and team sessions as allowed in the fall as he tries to earn another year as a member of the team.

ISOM HONORED: Senior goalkeeper and team captain Mo Isom on Monday was named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week, landing the honor for LSU for the second week in a row.

Isom made four saves in a 1-0 win over McNeese State. That included a save with 9 seconds left to preserve the win. LSU redshirt freshman Jodi Calloway earned the award a week earlier.

MANNARI HONORED: LSU junior libero Meghan Mannari garnered SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors Monday as announced by the league office. In games against Alabama and Ole Miss, Mannari had 43 digs and was 45-for-45 in reception attempts to run her streak to seven straight matches without an error.
