James Foster

Lanier High (Montgomery, Ala.) QB James Foster

Quarterback James Foster, of Lanier High in Montgomery, Alabama, is headed to the Southeastern Conference -- to play for Texas A&M.

Foster picked the Aggies over Florida State and LSU.

It was a wild ride for the dual-threat passer after committing to North Carolina early in his recruiting process only to decommit later. He then committed to Missouri, but again decided to reopen his recruitment in the fall.

After he picked up a late fourth star in the recruiting rankings, several teams started to show more interest in Foster, including Alabama, Florida State, Texas A&M and LSU.

At one point, he was supposed to visit Florida State, but canceled after the departure of head coach Jimbo Fisher for Texas A&M.

Foster completed 200-of-300 passes for 2,912 yards, with 31 touchdowns and three interceptions in 2017 at Lanier High, according to AL.com.

What They’re Saying: “He’s a guy who’s athletic enough and played long enough at Lanier to where you feel good about getting him in the program and giving him some time to develop his confidence as a college quarterback with his arm, and then you like the product after that.” - 247Sports recruiting analyst Shea Dixon.
