LSU-Auburn baseball moved to 9 p.m. _lowres

LSU’s game against Auburn on Friday is now set to start at 9 p.m., the school announced this evening.

LSU (29-5, 8-4 Southeastern) and Auburn (20-13, 4-8) were set to play at 7 p.m. but a deluge hit Baton Rouge about an hour before the scheduled first pitch of Friday’s series-opening game at Alex Box Stadium.

There is more rain on the way. According to SEC rules, a game cannot start after 10 p.m. and a game cannot resume after midnight.

LSU sophomore Jared Poché (5-1, 3.10) was scheduled to pitch against Auburn sophomore Cole Lipscomb (4-0, 2.65) on Friday night. LSU freshman righty Alex Lange (6-0, 1.39) was set to go against Auburn’s Keegan Thompson (6-2, 3.15) on Saturday night.

The forecast is a rainy one all weekend. The two teams are scheduled to play at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.

Auburn does not have a travel curfew for Sunday. The Southeastern Conference travel curfew will be in effect. A game cannot start Sunday after 5 p.m. and can’t resume after 6 p.m.
