Catholic High running back Derrius Guice has committed to LSU, multiple recruiting services reported Saturday.

Guice, a 6-foot, 210-pound, four-star prospect, is ranked the third-best player in the 2015 class and the 10th-best running back nationally, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.

Guice is currently suspended from the Catholic High football team, though he could be reinstated over the summer. Guice has committed to play in the Under Armour All-America all-star game.

As a junior, he earned Class 5A all-state and all-metro honors after rushing for 1,101 yards and 13 touchdowns in a season that was shortened by injuries. He also had two kick returns for touchdowns. Guice also was suspended for one game last fall.

During the indoor track season, Guice placed third in Division I in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.02 seconds, helping the Bears win a state title.

Guice gives LSU 12 commits for 2015. The group is ranked No. 6 nationally, according to 24/7. Guice is the second running back in the commit class, joining University High’s Nick Brossette.
