After days (months really) of scrutiny, Ed Orgeron appears to be the man set to lead LSU next year and beyond.
Orgeron, who began the season as LSU's defensive line coach, ascended to the position of interim head coach after the firing of Les Miles. He has since led LSU to several rousing victories, including 42-7 over Missouri in his debut with the Tigers, 38-10 over Arkansas and most recently 54-39 over Texas A&M. That 5-2 stretch also included a deflating shutout loss to Alabama and a disappointing, last-second loss to Florida.
During that time, Florida State's Jimbo Fisher became the top candidate, but reportedly turned down LSU. Houston's Tom Herman was also a top commodity, but seems primed to take the head coaching job with the University of Texas.
