Members of the LSU track and field program anticipate Thanksgiving week each year. It not only marks the conclusion of fall training, it also features one of the unique traditions of the program with the annual team pentathlon at the Carl Maddox Field House.

Defending their individual pentathlon titles Tuesday were juniors Daniel Obioha and Brittany Porter.

Porter set the overall women’s scoring record with 338 points.

Obioha defended his men’s pentathlon title, scoring 402 points.

WACLAWCZYK, TEAMMATES DONATE BOOKS: During the summer, LSU defensive specialist Lauren Waclawczyk wanted to do more than just finish her volleyball career. She wanted to find a way to make an impact on the Baton Rouge community.

In four months, Waclawczyk and teammates on Nov. 7 presented Dufrocq Elementary school with 2,780 books. Waclawczyk even put on a skit with Mike the Tiger to explain the importance of reading.

became the 11th LSU player to surpass 1,000 career digs and played a key role in LSU winning the SEC Western Division title, her idea blossomed into an 2,780 books.

Waclawczyk and her teammates loaded up the books to attend a special assembly at Dufrocq on Nov. 7 and presented the students with their gifts. Waclawczyk even put on a skit with the Mike the Tiger to explain the importance of reading to the students.
