By now you probably know the story....
Before Saturday night, the last time LSU played in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome it faced Alabama in the 2011 national championship game.
The Tigers were shut out and are still -- to this day -- grilled by fans for not being able to cross midfield (technically LSU did cross the 50-yard line in the 4th quarter of that game, but the offense moved backward, and the drive ended with a fumble at midfield).
On Saturday against BYU, the shoe was on the other foot, and it was the Cougars who didn't cross the 50-yard line. And they really didn't cross it. BYU's deepest drive only reached its own 47-yard line.
The irony, of course, led to plenty of jokes on social media like this one:
Perhaps now LSU fans can have some closure after Jan. 9, 2012?
